By George!
Clissy’s ponies – Playmate (11.3hh), Bouyant (13.2hh) and Dunameir (14.1hh) took her through Pony Club up to Area Open events; and with Dunameir won many BSJA Junior Opens and competed in a season of JA classes at National shows – together they were also placed in the famous Larkhill Open Hunter Trial – run over enormous 4’6” fences (quite something fo a 14.1hh pony!).
Her International career started with By George finishing in 5th place at Boekelo in 1971 when she was 18 – together they went on to complete Burghley ‘72 and Badminton ‘73. George was produced by Clissy herself; as were all her horses – usually bought unbroken or just backed from the South West.
Merry Sovereign followed, they completed Badminton six years in succession and were members of the 1977 Gold Medal winning team at the Burghley European Champs. Clissy also at that time show jumped and upgraded Victory Flight to Grade A but found it too difficult to juggle the dates for both disciplines and decided to concentrate on the eventing. In 1979 she and Sovereign won team Silver at the Luhmuhlen Europeans, and placed 6th Individual in the World Championships in 1982. Delphy Dazzle took over and in 1985 they were 10th individually in the Burghley Europeans, won team Gold in the 1986 Gawler (South Australia) World Champs, 1990.
Clissy rode for her new country – Holland – after marrying Dutchman Edward Bleekman and she and Dazzle completed the World Championships in Stockholm for the Netherlands. Over the years competing Clissy was a frequent member of British Team abroad – and rode 19 different horses internationally.

Althea’s first pony was Murphy (11.2hh) who followed by (12.2hh) Arwen Evenstar took her from Pony Club camp and rallies to success in all disciplines – and great fun hunting with the Silverton Foxhounds and Pony Club. 13.1hh Billabong was next who was a prolific winner with Althea eventing and jumping. Overlapping with him came Roger Superstar (14.0hh) who won most of the local ODE’s over BE courses – and placed 7th for Althea in her first pony trial at Aldon ODE. Mayflower (14.2hh) and Nightgirl 002 (14.1hh) together started Althea's BE eventing and Pony Trial campaign.
Althea and her fellow team members: sister Katie, Siena Knight-Bruce and Flora Sherry took the Silverton into 4th place in the Open ODE Championships two year in succesion – Sansaw (2006) and Shelford Manor (2007). Nightgirl 002 was Althea’s ride in 2006 (also in the Dressage Champs that year) and Lickety Split in 2007, when Althea contested all 3 Champs – she rode Nightgirl in the Dressage and Mayflower in the Showjumping. Together these 2 ponies and the little horse Lickety Split started Althea’s International career.
The ponies had some incredible results. In 2007 Mayflower and Nightgirl won both sections of the JRN class at Thirlestane Scottish Champs...on the same day Althea (aged 15!) competed in and placed in, her first Intermediate class, the OI under 21. Nightgirl went on to win the Northern Ireland Pony Champs (CCIP**) at Necarne, and Mayflower to take 4th place in the senior CIC* at Varsseveld in Holland. In 2008
the two ponies won 1st and 2nd places in the National JAS Champioships and went on to complete another 1-2 at Withington in the prestigious one day National pony Championships. Nightgirl 002 then came 2nd in the CCNP** at Chepstow, which was good enough to get them selected for the Pony Europeans. They finished 11th individually and won the Team Silver medal. Amazingly that same year she was also competing horses up to International two star level and jumped a brilliant double clear around the CIC** at Varsseveld in Holland with Lickety Split. Billys Lad picked up from where the ponies had left off in 2009. They had some fantastic results in Junior CCI* and right on up to Three star. Ziomf represented Holland with Alfie in the Senior European Championships in Malmo in 2013 and Meepswood Conquestor has also contested CCI*** and Anmarsch is right behind at two star level. Great things are hoped for in the future!
Ziomf and Meepswood Conquestor both had some good results in 2014 and will be hopefully carry on up that level towards 4* in 2015.

Smokey 11.2hh was Katies first pony – and her best friend. She then moved on to Murphy who, with Pony club and hunting took her on to Scrumpy (Keston Cider Gold) who successfully started off her ODE/SJ career with multiple wins! Billy Whizz was lent to Katie by the Martin-Pope family and what a pony! Together they won all over the South West SJ and eventing – including Blundells ODE and the Tiverton PC 2 Day Event.
In 2004 Clissy saw Cregaan Scenic (14.1hh) as a 4 year old and fell in love – Katie immediately clicked with her and won Blundells within weeks! Scenic and Katie went on together to two 4th team places for the Silverton in the Open Pony Club championships at Sansaw (2006) and Shelford Manor (2007); with Coppindell Pizarro she jumped the SJ Champs in 2007 as well.
A great triumph followed in that autumn – Katie took both ponies to Ballindenisk CICP** and won with Scenic! Zarro was also placed 9th. With Scenic she went on to take 4th place at Chepstow CCIP** in the spring of 2008 but sadly that autumn a broken collar bone put paid to another trip to Ireland for Necarne...still Katie bounced back and she and Scenic finished the season placed in the Aldon CCI* against the grown ups!
She and Scenic won the National One Day Event Pony Championships at Withington in 2009, which resulted in them being selected for the European Team in Moorsele (Belgium) where they went on to finish 6th individually and win a Team Silver medal. Katie then started Billys Lad's and Delphy May Gray's eventing careers, winning a BE90 and BE100 with them respectively. In 2010 Katie took over the ride on Prince Apollo and they are now competing at CCI** level. After finishing in 10th place at Renswoude in the CCI** together, Katie decided to have a break from competitive riding for the moment and has handed down the ride on Prince Apollo to Janou.
2013 has seen Katie working for Selwood Equine and she has had a great time travelling with their trade stand and lovely clothes to great locations including Hickstead and Dublin. She also has to be very proud of her two self produced 'ex rides' - Prince Apollo and Granite Lady who have had a brilliant year with Janou.
Katie travelled a lot in 2014 with the Selwood tradestand and loved it - and re-commenced her BE eventing career riding Mrs Vanessa Francis' Cundlegreen Birthday Girl at BE100 and Novice successfully.

Determined to ride with her sisters Nui went to the Silverton PC camp when she was 3! Katie’s Smokey was her first ride and the family’s long time school master Nobby (13.1hh) had the job of carrying Nui around her earliest competitions.
After Smokey came T J Hooker who had the look of Desert Orchid..in 11hh form! He seriously started Nui's competitive career, and she then inherited Wenna and then both Billabong and Billy Whizz who carried on with Nui the Bleekman tradition of hunting all winter and contesting as many BSJA shows and Unaffiliated ODE’s that could be found – to great success!
Starting her BE career in 2008 at 12 she became the youngest person to ever win a BE event. That year she went on to numerous triumphs with Lisnalea Grace and Saffy Superstar finishing 6th and 11th in her first 3 day Event in the BE100 at Aldon.
2009 saw Janou spring onto the Pony Trial scene, scoring some impressive results with Saffy including 7th at Ballindenisk. Scenic joined Nui’s string late in 2009 and swiftly picked up a 3rd and two 1st’s at Novice level.
The great results continued through 2010 and into 2011, when Scenic's results were good enough to get them selected for the Pony European team. They finished an amazing 13th indidually and helped the team to a Bronze medal.
2012 was a fabulous year for Nui. With Scenic together they won Brand Hall CCIP**, becoming National Champions. Selection followed for the European Championships where they brought home a team Silver Medal...missing the Individual Bronze by a whisker! The transition to horses followed with a great 4th place at Osberton on the senior CCI* with Prince Apollo.
2013 has been a brilliant 'first year on horses' for Nui. Prince Apollo has had wonderful results at Intermediate with Nui - she has upgraded him to Advanced with all his results and together they had a super time at the Junior European Championships. Granite Lady and Caliari Kiko are now International horses - with 'Fudge' having gone brilliantly at Le Lion in the Young Horse World Champs. With Dasj only just behind notching up good Novice results Nui has a great team for 2014
Nui had a year to remember in 2014. Two National Championship Golds – Irish Junior Champion (Granntevka Prince), Dutch Junior Champion (Dasj), Silver medal Dutch Young Rider Championship (Catch Up Quick) 10th place Individualy in the Junior European Championships and 5th Team (Granntevka Prince), 19th in the World Championships for Young Horses (Dasj) and made her debut in great style at 3* (Catch up Quick). Some year!
